The 3,021 km journey from Darwin to Adelaide through the Australian Outback can be harsh, unpredictable, extreme. The blistering sun that powers the car, specifically designed for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, can push daytime temperatures in excess of 50 degrees. There are tropical downpours, vicious crosswinds, willy willies and dust storms. Then there are the road trains - 53 metre monsters barrelling along at 100Kph.
