We are committed to providing professional law enforcement, corrections, and criminal justice services through a partnership with our communities that builds trust, reduces crime, creates a safe environment to work and raise a family in, and enhances the quality of life for our citizens. Our mission is profound because of its breadth, significance, and complexity. It is a diverse service, not a specific product producer. While other public and private organizations exist to protect life and property, they do not have the unique authority that law enforcement officers have to carry out the enforcement function, which is explicit and implicit in the statutory definitions of a peace officer, police officer, and law enforcement officer. The Bedford County Sheriff's Office is comprised of employee’s who share a common belief and goal to provide the most adaptive, professional and responsive services possible to the public. To achieve this, we must accept and adhere to basic values that are a vital part of the Sheriff's Office and give us the spirit and direction to achieve our goals.
