The Life of a Single Mom is a national nonprofit founded in 2011 by Jennifer Maggio. We believe no single mother, regardless of story, should walk alone. She and her children are far too important to our future. The organization serves more than 80,000 single mothers each year through hundreds of support groups in communities and churches. We specialize in working with churches and nonprofits on how to start, grow, or improve a single moms ministry, support group, Sunday school class, or outreach. We provide online and face-to-face workshops and events for single mothers that promote success in 3 core areas: Parenting, Finances, and Health & Wellness. We are one of the largest single mom-centric organizations in the U.S. focused on promoting success in single mother led homes. We know they can do it! We want to help them. It takes an army of more than 7,000 volunteers and hundreds of support groups to ensure that goals are achieved. Our history includes a young single mom who was huddled on her bathroom floor, suicidal, convinced she could not go on and belonged nowhere. Years passed and the plight of single motherhood was difficult. Yet, she ultimately climbed the Corporate ladder and sustained success. That young single mom was our founder and her story has been used to inspire thousands worldwide. She left that corporation in 2007 to give back to single mothers. We grew rapidly, over 1000% in our first year, and continue to grow in number of single mothers served each year. We are best known for our national single mom conferences hosted each year, as well as Single Mom University, our online lifeskills platform. We host an annual Single Mother of the Year Award and many smaller events in communities across the U.S.
