Quinta da Alorna, established in 1723, and owned by the Lopo de Carvalho family for five generations, has around 160 hectares of vineyards, with different grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet, Fernão Pires, Arinto and Chardonnay. Our wines are produced using modern winemaking technologies, resulting in products with the quality, excellence and competitiveness demanded by the market. The estate is located in Almeirim, along the Tejo River (Tagus River) responsible for shaping the terroirs of the region, whose plains are ideal for growing grapes and ensuring the perfect temperature range. With a total area of 2,800 hectares, Quinta da Alorna is an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable company capable of producing products of superior quality in a consistent and innovative manner, thereby strengthening the bonds with our shareholders, employees, partners and consumers. In addition to the wine production, Quinta da Alorna has around 500 hectares dedicated to irrigation farming and approximately 1,900 hectares of forest. In the area of irrigation farming, all of its production goes to the agri-food industry (corn, potatoes, peanuts, peas, sweet potatoes and others). In the area of forestry cork oak, pine trees and eucalyptus are the main cultures. This important wooded area also helps to mitigate carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. In addition, the Estate has six solar power stations that produces enough energy to supply the winery. Quinta da Alorna was founded by Pedro de Almeida, the first Marquis of Alorna. Marquesa da Alorna wines are a tribute to his granddaughter, Leonor de Almeida Portugal de Lorena e Lencastre (1750-1839), fourth Marquise of Alorna, an 18th-century Portuguese poetess and one of the most renowned voices of Pre-Romanticism in Portugal. Quinta da Alorna is more than wine: It’s a brand with history and a lot of stories to tell. Quinta da Alorna. So much to discover.
