Nkanyezi Stimulation Centre for Children with Multiple Disabilities

nkanyezicentre.yolasite.com

A South African non-profit centre (NPO 016868) for children with multiple disabilities that ensures each learner achieves their individual maximum potential with love & determination. Nkanyezi is the only centre offering such services in the Orlando West area of Soweto. Formally known as Dimpho and was renamed in memory of the late Nkanyezi Tshabalala born 04 – 01 – 89 and died 30 – 09 – 00. Nkanyezi suffered from Cerebral Palsy with Hydrocephalus Epileptic and was a wheel chair user. He inspired his mother Thembekile Prisca Tshabalala to recruit mothers and families of children with multiple disabilities and formed a support group in September 1998. Ma Prisca then led the formation of the centre for parents who had nowhere to send their children for loving care, stimulation, education and safety. At Nkanyezi, still run by a passionate and vibrant ma Prisca all these years later, we celebrate the unique beauty of each and every individual. We care for children with a variety of disabilities, by providing them with a safe place to interact, play, learn and grow. We fondly refer to these children as ‘our little shining stars’.
