John Reiss Fitness provides exercise and fitness classes for individuals with intellectual challenges. The 30 - 60 minute classes are tailored to the skills and abilities of the students. Classes are given on-site at hospitals, group residences, churches and schools. Classes emphasize strength training, coordination, balance and teamwork, all taught in a fun, interactive session. Too often exercise and fitness are not included in curriculum for those with special needs. Sports increases social skills, self confidence, ability to master new concepts, teamwork and overall quality of life. Everyone deserves to be healthy! John Reiss brings 10 years experience coaching those with special needs. John is a head coach for Special Olympics, coaching basketball, bocce, bowling and swimming. John was an official at the Special Olympics World Games 2015 in Los Angeles and helped coached the Australian bocce team to a gold medal. • 10 years experience working the special needs population • National College of Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT) : Certification in Personal Training including studies in nutrition, training special populations and development of strength training programs. • Aerobic Fitness Association of America (AFAA): Personal Training Certification • American Red Cross Lifesaving and CPR Training • Concussion Training Certification • National Center for Safety Initiatives background check • 10 years experience as a Special Olympics coach • Special Olympics Class "A" certification • Special Olympics World Games 2015 Sports Official • $2,000,000 professional liability insurance policy coverage
