Working with our provincial Chapters, we are committed to supporting family physicians in meeting the highest standards for patient care. We provide and support research, teaching, and accreditation for postgraduate family medicine programs across the country. As the professional body representing family physicians, we define the discipline of family medicine by establishing standards for family medicine training, certification, and accreditation of continuing professional development. We serve family physician members, residents, medical students, and other health care professionals who work with family physicians and share our commitments. We advocate for family physicians, define and celebrate the role of family medicine and family practice at the heart of our health care system, and work to ensure everyone in Canada can access high-quality care from a family physician.
