Their mission is to support specific safety reforms to improve the safety and working environment of commercial truck drivers, and to reduce, and eventually eliminate, all large truck crash fatalities. The Trucking Alliance companies affiliate by invitation. They adopt core principles, all of which exceed federal requirements to operate on US highways. The companies collectively employ 85,000 drivers, logistics and management personnel and also contract with thousands of independent owner operators. The companies operate 82,000 trucks and more than 225,000 semitrailers and containers to serve their respective customers' supply chain networks.
