New York Center for Law and Justice
www.lawjusticecenter.orgThe New York Center for Law and Justice provides direct representation to New Yorkers who are underrepresented and who cannot afford to hire a lawyer. We are the only public interest law firm focused primarily upon representing the deaf and hard of hearing community in New York City. The law center also acts as a catalyst for organizing a community of lawyers to expand their pro bono participation by referring matters to volunteer counsel and introduces law and undergraduate students to the practice of law. Student interns assist the law center and pro bono counsel with actual client matters. The law center's commitment to access to justice finds its source in contemporary ethical and moral considerations that promote social justice and which form the foundation for many of today's democratic societies. In seeking legal redress for others, we honor the ancient charge that "justice, justice you shall pursue." We are guided by the historic search for justice that has defined the human experience. In particular, we believe that the pursuit of justice is one of the central foundations for the development of human dignity, achievement and peace.
