Engage with China (EwC) builds China literacy in schools by enabling young people to understand more about modern China, to engage with its growth, influence and impact and to consider why this matters to their future. EwC curriculum-enrichment 'Challenge Days' provide fresh age-appropriate China knowledge enabling cross-curricular connections and enhancing skills to empower pupils to become more effective cross-cultural leaders in the future. Schools leaders recognise the value of our resources in providing an overseas experience in the classroom whilst also developing 21st century skills such as negotiating, critical-thinking, building cultural capital, challenging unconscious bias and fostering a global outlook. Language components delight young minds whilst stories about modern China, including inspirational personal stories or legend, invariably inspire and build curiosity about one of the world's most powerful nations and the opportunities available there. Thousands of pupils aged 5-18 across the independent and state sectors have benefitted from our Challenge Days to date. EwC's resources are available for key stages across primary and secondary schools, providing an easy access point and learning journey to discover China around themes of invention and innovation, history, economic transformation, population, the environment, values, society, well-being through Chinese eyes and where things are made. As the world observes China’s Covid bounce-back, how it develops economic and strategic competencies, journeys to the moon and becomes a world leader in AI and robotics, there is much to inspire the next generation about aspiration and dreams whilst also challenging them to consider how to work cross-culturally to solve global sustainability problems including climate change and the environment.
