Newly established, Applied BioSciences draws on and applies diverse disciplines, including entomology, microbiology, biotechnology, genetics, synthetic biology, chemical ecology, marine science, and physiology to address major national and global biological challenges in Agriculture, the Environment, and Disease vectors affecting human, plant and animal health. Applied Biosciences is a highly networked research community of diverse partners and collaborators working together toward shared research and social goals. Through partnership we pursue a mission of developing foundational and translational research for real world impact. Many researchers in Applied Biosciences are jointly funded between participating organisations, with some based at our extensive facilities on campus at Macquarie University, Sydney Australia, and others based at partner facilities. The seamless movement of research staff and higher degree research students across this alliance of like-minded organisations enables sharing of facilities, knowledge, experience and expertise that greatly increases research capacity.
