Thailand Clean Air Network

www.thailandcan.org

A multi-disciplinary, citizen-driven volunteer group to support the first bona fide citizen-driven Thai Clean Air Bill in Thailand, in order to address the structural issues underlying the air pollution crisis in Thailand. This first, ever citizen-led Draft Clean Air Act for Thailand had garnered support of over 22,000 Thai signatories (which exceeded the minimum 10,000 watermark number required to be eligible for citizens to table draft legislation). We formally submitted this draft legislation to the Thai Parliament in early 2022 and are hopeful that it will eventually be deliberated by the Thai Parliament for consideration as passage into law. However, so far, no action has yet been taken. In parallel, we have also been driving the public communication and education process, which is critically important as the ammunition needed to support the passage of this important legislation. We have produced a very brief explainer video that walks through the key features of this legislation and can be found through this link (it is in Thai but with English subtitles): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbVz1VgGrN8 Thailand CAN is also fortunate to have gained the endorsement for this Draft Thai Clean Air Act from Dr.David R.Boyd, who is UN Rapporteur on Human Rights and the Environment. Here is the endorsement video that Dr. Boyd had kindly provided: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4suRESv2Yc
