GSBS Believes in the future of Micro-Algae Cultivation Plants and in the endless possibilities they offer. In addition to being more than just biomass and nutrient producers, they can also be a source of clean energy such as electricity, and other essentials goods such as drinking water. These plants are useful for cleaning the planet abating two major causes of pollution like CO2 and urban solid waste. The system is based on a closed, continous production process that incorporates biological cycles whithin a well balanced technological process. With this technology an Autonomous Village can be created that is capable of addressing modern day issues such as Energy scarcity, Water supply, Pollution, Nutrition and Unemployment. The plant designed by GSBS based on seven years of experience provides for the cultivation of unicellular-algae in an aqueous medium. The entire farming process takes place within a photo-unit into which a gas stream containing CO2 is injected. The algae are then harvested, accumulated, compressed and further treated to obtain a biomass with controlled moisture content. From this biomass, lipids, fatty acids, amino acids and proteins are extracted. The positive energy balance of the process -meaning that the entire process does not use more energy than it can produce- is obtained by the parallel exploitation of other renewable energy sources to offset on-site energy consumption.
