Autumn/Winter 2018 sees the launch of Sonia Petroff Handmade Jewellery under the creative direction of Maria Leoni-Sceti. Her debut collection draws inspiration from the unusual jewellery theme of the nature, reimagined through the filter of Sonia’s own individualistic, idiosyncratic creative vision. These are comprised of handmade leather belts, luxury handbags, statement earrings, unique rings, vintage style brooches, and statement choker necklaces hand-crafted in Italy. The launch collection is inspired by Petroff’s original handmade jewellery designs from the early 60s to the late 80s, discovered in her archives that passed down to Maria Leoni-Sceti, however, they have all been updated and tweaked to give them a contemporary edge, yet still evoking a flamboyant, 1970’s vibe. Leoni-Sceti has faithfully replicated the statement belts, the height of chic in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, as these were Sonia’s signature and the essence of her style. Made from wide, handcrafted strips of leather and twisted silk cords, the statement buckles in decadently rich gold-plated brass and jewelled stones take centre stage.
