Carers Centre Tower Hamlets
www.ccth.org.ukCarers Centre Tower Hamlets provides information, advocacy, training and advice (including benefits) to people looking after someone who lives in Tower Hamlets. These people are unpaid carers and many do not know it. Carers provide substantial unpaid support to family members, partners, friends or neighbours who could not manage without their help. This could be because of physical illness, mental illness, frailty, disability, or substance misuse. Anyone can become a carer at any time in their life. Every day in the UK 6,000 people take on a caring responsibility. 3 in 5 people will be Carers at some point in their lives. Carers Centre Tower Hamlets offers respite in the form of social activities and short breaks, training opportunities, practical advice and information. The Carers Centre now has a Young Adult Carers Project for 16 to 25 years olds who provide long term unpaid care to someone in Tower Hamlets. We provide a regular social group for Young Adult Carers to get a break from their caring roles, meet other young people in similar situations and take part in the kind of simple social activities that most young people take for granted.
