In 1870, Frederick Douglass began to publish The New Era, a Washington DC-based newspaper intended to embolden the cause of the country's newly-freed men and women. Understanding the new challenges these citizens faced, the paper was devoted to the promotion of self-determination and growth. In that same spirit, New Era Ventures is a DC-based, social-minded conglomerate with a mission to democratize industries. New Era Ventures seeks to achieve this by creating products that reduce barriers of entry for aspiring entrepreneurs and increasing capital for low- to moderate-income people. The growing company currently owns businesses in skincare, technology, and real estate.
