Our company is an engineering company devoted to contribute providing clean and renewable energy solutions, deploying cost-effective projects to the Industry. Etymol Ocean Power SpA is based in Santiago, Chile and has representatives in Madrid, Spain and Edinburg, Scottland, UK. In Chile is operating in three areas: a.- The wave energy project; b.- Small Hydro Power plants and Solar plants to the Industry. c.- Manufacturing and maintenance services to the Industry. The ETYMOL wave power technology (in Spanish means Energy Transformation and Movement of Waves) is a renewable energy technology that has been created to develop Offshore Wave Power Converter Farms in order to harness the huge energy potential from the oceans. The design is conceived to generate electrical power taken from wave pressure differences with a competitive investment per megawatt of power generated and attractive low operational costs. Now-a-days, we are developing our second prototype Etymol Alfa, which will be placed in a location in the north of Chile. The ETYMOL conversion principle works by not opposing to the wave motion, but rather by driving the pressure wave across the device turning it into kinetic energy as the water flows. A key feature is that it has no moving parts in the energy conversion process, which increases its durability and resistance to the marine environment. These devices work converting the pressure waves into a laminar flow, without turbulence, exploiting the wave power, safely for navigation and with minimal risk to the marine fauna.
