Centro de Investigación Mariña (CIM-UVIGO) is the central element of the marine strategy of the University of Vigo and constitutes an interdisciplinary pole of reference at the local, state and international level in the field of generation and transfer of knowledge of the sea. We are one of the five Singular Research Centers of Galicia and we aspire to become a European reference and leader in the Euroregion Galicia-North of Portugal in Marine Research, focusing our mission in the generation of knowledge of excellence in marine science, in the transfer of that knowledge for the benefit of society and in the internationalization of the research activity of the University of Vigo in the field of the sea. Our center is made up of 15 research groups and more than 200 people. At the Mariñas de Toralla Science Station, our center has unique infrastructures worldwide to conduct research on aquaculture, on the effects of climate change on the marine environment or to develop new biotechnological solutions of marine origin.
