Hope Pastures
www.hopepastures.orgHope Pastures is a registered UK charity, which rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes horses, ponies and donkeys. Based in Leeds we also educate in animal welfare and provide a place where people, irrespective of background and ability, can meet the animals, volunteer, learn skills and learn how to contribute to the community. Hope Pastures is open free of charge everyday and is easily accessible by foot or public transport. We also run educational and fun group visits, Pony Days and volunteering sessions (including for the elderly, schools, brownies and resourced provision groups) and we take ponies out on therapeutic visits, for example to drug/alcohol abuse centres and care homes. We have around 30 animals at the sanctuary and are responsible for over 100 in loving foster and forever homes. We see some terrible examples of how cruel humans can be to these trusting and generous animals and are constantly amazed at how even animals which have been in the most desperate state can go on to have a happy and fulfilling life. It costs over ĂĹ8,000 per month to run the sanctuary. We receive no grants and rely totally on public donations and support.
