Tianjin Polytechnic (Tiangong) University is a university in Tianjin, China under the municipal government. It is also referred to as TGU. The former name of this University is Tianjin Polytechnic University. The university was founded in 1912 and currently has fourteen colleges on two campuses in the city. The old campus is located in the Hedong District, and the new one is in the Xiqing District. It is a Chinese state Double First-Class University, included in the national Double First Class University Plan verified by the Ministry of Education. TGU is now taking great initiative in meeting the needs of the educational development in the 21st century and the economic construction in China and has become one of China's best universities in science and technology.
