Crossing Point Arts - Bringing the Arts to Survivors of Human Trafficking
www.crossingpointarts.orgCrossing Point Arts is a 501(c)3 organization founded by a small group of New York City activist artists. This group came together to offer their hearts - and their art forms - to survivors as a step towards managing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In workshop format, participants have the opportunity to be guided by Teaching Artists and Expressive Arts Therapists in singing, song-creation, dance, visual arts, poetry and theater. Crossing Point Arts offers our services to any anti-trafficking agencies that are committed to helping survivors overcome their trauma. We conduct on-going workshops at GEMS and Polaris Project, two anti-trafficking agencies in the NYC area which bring comprehensive aid to help rebuild the lives of survivors with housing, therapy, medical and child care, education, legal support and job training. Since 2013 our work has been embraced by these agencies, and noted for the creative and therapeutic approach we take, which has proven to be an integral aspect of survivors healing processes.
