EPUAP - European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel
www.epuap.orgThe European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel was established as a charity in 1996 in London to lead and support all European countries in the efforts to prevent and treat pressure ulcers. The mission of the association is to provide the relief of persons suffering from or at risk of pressure ulcers. This is primarily done through research and education, as well as advocacy activities aiming to promote an adequate patient centred and cost effective pressure ulcer care throughout Europe. The core activities of EPUAP are: • The EPUAP annual meeting: gathering clinical care practitioners, researchers and industry. • The Pressure Ulcer Guidelines: Launched in 2009 and developed in cooperation with NPUAP (National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel). The updated version will be launched in 2014. • The EPUAP Focus Meeting: Held on a bi-annual basis and with a specific theme within the field of pressure ulcers. • Promotion of the Stop Pressure Ulcer Day in cooperation with local wound care societies and industry. • Research and development of educational tools: EPUAP has been involved in several research projects and educational activities in cooperation with different national or regional associations. E.g., development of the Pressure Ulcer Classification tool, PUCLAS.
