For over 43 years Kara Family Violence Service has offered free confidential information, advice and case management to women and children experiencing family violence in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Our specialist support services provide information and advice to help clients make informed decisions and work towards a safer future. Last year Kara Family Violence Service we supported 489 women and 339 children from over 46 different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. We assist younger women, older women, women with children, women with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders and the LGBTIQA+ community. We work with women within our crisis accommodation as well as victim-survivors in the wider community. Our core support services are funded by the Victoria Government, and we reach out to the community to help us provide the best possible care, environment, and material aid that all greatly improve the long-term outcomes of our clients.
