Objectives: i. Create awareness amongst consumers on understanding nutrition and key parameters to look for when consuming nutrition products. ii. Create awareness amongst supply chain network in appreciating nutrition products and their storage conditions. iii. Enable manufacturers and marketers in developing minimum acceptable criteria in designing a) product formulation, b) Rationale, c) Consumer sensitivities. iv. Promote practice of claim validation v. Assist industry in claims development. vi. Lead the cause and practice of claims and ingredient rationale traceability. vii. Evaluate Claims and Ingredient rationale traceability. (The association will be qualified through DSIR ) viii. Represent industry’s interest to ministry and regulatory for enabling Responsible Nutrition enablement. viii. To drive Industry consensus in developing Self Regulation guidelines. ix. To drive self regulation through industry body. x. To develop industry-wide dietary supplement product registry and an advertising monitoring programto help ensure supplement ads are truthful and not misleading. xi. Develop Responsible Nutrition certification program for nutrition products. (Under Trust)- marketing, labels, legal compliance, formula rationalization, QC (Five star system) xii.Advocate for laws that recognize the appropriate role of dietary supplements and functional food in government policy and programs xiii. Demonstrate the potential health care cost savings from dietary supplements xiv. Communicate the importance of the dietary supplement industry’s self-regulatory efforts and best practices xv. Cultivate relationships with elected officials and work with the regulatory to share information the benefit, quality and safety of dietary supplement and functional food products xvi. Strengthen industry relationships by encouraging elected officials and staff visits and tours of member companies’ manufacturing facilities to see first-hand how GMP regulations are implemented
