MARS is a website based organization started to provide a medium to communicate and receive information. The Mars website is intended to generate traffic, and hence interest in an open discussion of public interest issues. Our goal is to create awareness and to generate an effective demand, by Kenyans, for accountability from Kenya's leadership and to encourage Kenyans to hold to account those who have committed improprieties. This website features the following elements: • Blog Site: an interactive forum, by way of blogging, on public interest issues. Contributors, who register for free, are able to blog and even post comments online; • MARS Reports: Users have access to all reports published by MARS on corruption; • Government Reports: Corruption related official reports are freely available in downloadable formats; • Kenya Corruption News: each day the site automatically uploads the day’s corruption news as carried in the monitored media sources; • Multi-media clips: Users have free access to selected clips of important corruption related broadcasts and animation video designed by MARS. The clips are sampled from our archives; • Recommended Reading: for an understanding of what drives corruption in Kenya; • Comic Strip: MARS works with leading cartoonists to highlight the serious problem of corruption using humour; • Streaming: Animation video on corruption; • Broadcast Internet video and audio content from Mars, including our own documentaries and interviews; • Web Ombudsman: in development is a secure corruption reporting system to enable MARS to receive whistleblower information.
