Everyone can enjoy livestreaming, whether you’re in Nanaimo or on the other side of the world! Live events are an important part of the cultural and economic fabric of Canada and our community. Like so many industries, the pandemic hit theatres hard as we were the first to shut down and will be one of the last to return to our full capacity of 800-seats. The Port Theatre has invested in excellent livestreaming technology and trained our staff in new ways because our industry is evolving. Showcasing important artistic work in a time of a pandemic, bringing some of the very best to our community and streaming it back out to the world, is inspiring and uplifting. Diversity is one of our core values. The Port Theatre Society is proud to be accessible and responsive to all segments of the population. We continue to expand our community outreach and ensure access and collaboration with people from all cultures, ages, races and genders. Nanaimo is a gathering place and the Port Theatre is at the centre; the heart of our downtown. Livestreaming allows more people to safely experience the joy of live performance!
