On June 3rd, 2018, the Fuego Volcano had one of the biggest eruptions in Guatemalan history. The eruption sent ash up to 10,000 meters high and lava rivers came down the side of the volcano burning and burying 186 homes, killing 161 and displacing more than 4,500 people. Amidst the chaos, VOLUNCA was born. A channel and methodology through which volunteers could reach the people in need. We hope that this tool can be used in future catastrophes in Guatemala, and across the world.
