On March 1, 2011, our Managing Member left the partnership of a top law firm with a goal: to reimagine the business law firm to serve Clients (and lawyers) better! Since our founding, Mainsail Lawyers has tested many new technologies and explored different law firm models in search of a model that meets our firm's primary goals: (1) to reduce the gross amount of overhead associated with old model, business law firms, (2) to equitably allocate per lawyer expenses/earnings, and (3) to find creative and varied ways to maximize our firm's value proposition while serving clients better. During the firm's first six years, our Managing Member's practice took off, exceeding nearly every metric, compared to many solo and large firm attorney practices from a quality of work, income generating, and client service perspective. However, we still believed the firm could do better for other layers and more clients. Therefore, using this period of handling mostly trade secret, employment, and business litigation matters across the country for business clients ranging in size from start-up to Fortune 50, Mainsail Lawyers continued to refine and improve its model. In 2017, based on the many lessons learned since our founding, Mainsail Lawyers launchd an entirely new law firm model, one which allows go-to, partner-level lawyers to leverage technology and best practices to realize more personal (as opposed to firm) gains while serving clients better! Our model is different from any traditional BigLaw or even "New Normal" law firm, and it offers a compelling alternative to the difficult task of going solo.
