Decade On is a UK registered charity, providing friendly, industry-specific careers advice to young adults (18+). In the UK, just 7% of students are privately educated, and yet, they are hugely over-represented in the top professions, accounting for: - 50% of journalists - 60% of doctors - 70% of barristers The Sutton Trust, an educational charity, says that the struggle to improve social mobility requires high quality careers advice to be available to young people from all backgrounds. All pupils should receive a guaranteed level of careers advice from professional impartial advisers. We do not believe this is being done, so we set up Decade On. What we offer: We provide the most up-to-date advice possible. Our mentors have about a decade of professional experience, so while they have made real progress in their career, it wasn’t too long ago that they were starting out. We believe this puts them in the ideal position to advise young adults looking to enter their profession. We currently have mentors in the following sectors: - Finance - Marketing and PR - Broadcasting and Journalism - Not for Profits / Charities - Government - Tech - Design - Entrepreneurship - Law - Consulting We are also looking for mentors in the following sectors: - Medicine - Science - Academia - Architecture - Engineering Who it is for: Decade On is designed to help young adults from all backgrounds to get the top job they want. They just need to ask themselves one question: Where do I want to be in 10 years?
