The Local Offer increases access to specialist services in education, health and social care for parents & carers of children with SEN & disability (0 - 25 years). It provides a membership platform for all SEND services to register their service nationwide, and be found by those seeking support. The Local Offer sets out to transform the SEN & disability landscape by raising awareness of the dynamic, diverse market place of cross sector provision and of the choices all parents & schools have, when needed to turn to or commission specialist provision, both at early stages of intervention or for children with Education, Health & Care Plans. The Local Offer champions the work of third and private sector services, who may not always share a level playing field with public sector counterparts when referrals are made on behalf of a child with SEND. The Local Offer embraces diversity of specialist provision and of finding new ways to support children and families, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including advocating that an allocation of funding is provided towards therapeutic interventions that may happen outside of the school day, including for sports, leisure and social opportunities for young people with SEND.
