Local Village Network
www.lvn.org.ukLocal Village Network (LVN) is a grassroots charity dedicated to social equality & community cohesion. Set up by a local Islington parent, driven by the ancient African proverb "it takes a village to raise a child" - That a child’s upbringing is a communal effort. Our aim is to even out the playing field for young people from disadvantage backgrounds to help cultivate life & new career skills beyond the classroom. Our objectives are to rebuild trust, embrace personal development & promote diversity & inclusion. Our strategy appeals for Adults, Professionals’ & Entrepreneurs **TIME-NOT-MONEY** to volunteer just 3 hours of their time (Per Year) to inspire a generation. Working in conjunction with behavioural experts at “Ogilvy Change” LVN has designed programs that help young people meet people they would not ordinarily encounter in a simple format that only requires minimum involvement from many professionals; resulting in maximum impact. The objective is for young people to gain a true picture of the environment they’re interested in entering as a career pathway. These sessions further build young people’s confidence as they can meet, engage, get advice from and ask different professionals the same questions to develop a better understanding of what to expect in this line of work. LVN delivers its ON-DEMAND programs into the heart of local communities • The LVN “Stop-the-Knife” – Campaign & Road Show • Industry Insight • Be-Your-Own-Boss • Vocational Academic Mentoring Programs (VAMP) To facilitate efforts on the ground LVN have undertaken an innovative project to develop a community based social media platform. The LVN-App, the first of its kind, is designed to act as a One-Stop-Shop bringing together young people, working professional’s, parents, youth leaders, community workers, service providers and local business via a centralised management portal
