Noor Kids

www.noorkids.com

In the challenging environment for Muslims in North America, Noor Kids seeks to inspire 4- to 8-year-old children to become strong and confident American Muslims. We produce a colorful, high-quality, activity book series designed to instill Islamic values in an engaging and exciting way. Through a design thinking approach informed by educational research and new theories about how children learn, we have identified a unique 3-part philosophy to guide our product development. First, we value critical thinking. We stimulate children to use reason to internalize Islam. Instead of focusing on the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of faith, we focus on the ‘why.’ Second, we encourage parent-child engagement. We create content, such as discussion questions and interactive activities, to spark in-depth conversation between parents and children about faith. And third, we affirm the importance of role models. Our four characters – Amin, Shireen, Asad, and Amira – role model successful integration for children, while also making Islamic education relevant for 4- to 8-year-old children. Our Harvard-sponsored children's books have entered into over 25,000 homes across 25 countries. And, we have been featured on media such as NPR, BBC, Christian Science Monitor, Boston Herald, Business Insider, Bustle, Quartz, MPR News, and dozens of independent blogs. We've developed a product that parents and children love. Check out our website and visit us on Facebook to learn more. We have a big problem to solve. We're excited to be part of the solution.
