People desperately want to find people and companies they can trust. When you earn their trust, you'll earn their business. According to a 2017 study by Content Marketing Institute and MarketingProfs, 73% of business-to-business (B2B) marketers rely on case studies. These companies credit case studies as being their second most effective content marketing vehicle (just behind white papers). Case studies provide social proof, giving new customers confidence that your products meet their unique needs. And confidence breeds trust. Some companies refer to case studies as Success Stories because they tell the story of how actual customers use their products to overcome real-world problems. Everybody relates to a good story because it appeals to the heart. A well-written case study educates the prospective customer and validates the claims made in your marketing literature. More importantly, it establishes credibility in your product. Credibility builds trust, and people buy from companies they trust. I've been writing for nearly forty years -- white papers, case studies, data sheets, user manuals, advertising, press releases, speeches, newsletters, training materials.
