Astitvam
www.astitvam.orgIn the words of Swami Sivananda, Ahara (Food), Nidra (Sleep), Bhaya (Fear), Maithuna (Copulation) are common to both animals and men, that which differentiates a man from an animal is Dharma (Principle of cosmic order), Viveka (Discrimination) and Vichara (Self Inquiry) taking inspiration from these great words Astitvam- Dharma Viveka Vichara, was initiated. Our team has been constantly working at ground level since January 2019 along with NGOs and led drives and campaigns both in urban and rural areas, we started a campaign back in 2019 to stop the extraction of the branches of Ficus Benghalensis (Vat Vriksha) for prayer (puja) purposes and initiated the people to get a Vat Vriksha plant instead, this campaign turned out to be successful as it stopped the unfortunate cutting of the branches of Vat Vriksha to a great extent. Our Vedic culture gives great importance to mother nature, and Astitvam is an attempt to revive those values in society once again. The Sanskrit verse माता भूमिः पुत्रोऽहं पृथिव्याः। (Atharvaveda 12.1.12), translation: Earth is my mother and I am her child, speaks of our rich cultural heritage and duties towards the society. Our team, has been actively engaged in Yamuna River Cleanliness drives, tree plantation drives and has made amends to educate the masses of our rich cultural heritage. we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little courage. Since our founding in 2019 and registration in 2021 as a not-for-profit organisation, we have been determined to make an impact. Astitvam is an initiative towards reviving, preserving, and promoting the rich cultural ethos of Bharat. It's a step towards decoloniality, and an endeavour to bring the Indic-community under one umbrella, a think-tank for Indic thinkers. The core of our efforts is to bring our team’s fresh ideas and passion to the range of activities we’re involved in. Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.
