The works of Sine Hjort bring a taste of ancient Northern European lifestyles to life. Her black and white cuttings are vivid depictions of life in mythical Nordic country. Each work captivates, and tells a story. It is easy to lose yourself in the scenes that unfold. They feature fantastical creature, wolves, witches and other forest and village dwellers as they cavort against stark landscapes illuminated by the celestial lights “Growing up in Denmark, I spent my free time in the forest pretending to be a magical creature at one with nature,” explained Sine Hjort. The images come to me like dreams, and the stories evoke an old Nordic village or forest where humans respectfully embrace life and all creatures, real or imagined.” Sine Hjort is a teaching artist offering Workshops at Westchesters Puplic free Libraries and Private Studios and Art Centers in NY State and CT.
