It was envisioned as an institute for advanced and high quality applied research working in collaboration with industries and other academic institutions on national and international levels to bring about the IT revolution in Pakistan and help build a knowledge driven economy. We strive to gather capable and competent researchers at one platform and provide them with favorable and motivational environment for creating innovative technologies and products.The institute is named after one the greatest Muslim scholars Muhammad ibn Musa Al-Khwarizmi (780 AD to 850 AD) to commemorate his out-standing contributions in the field of mathematics. Al-Khwarizmi introduced the fundamental concepts of Algebra and trigonometry. He is rightfully called the father of Algebra and the inventor of the concept of Algorithms, the word algorithm being the Latin form of his name. Al-Khwarizmi’s work laid the foundations for the building of computers, and the creation of encryption in the 20 th century. The modern technology industry would not exist without the contributions of Muslim mathematicians like Al-Khwarizmi.
