Over Under Initiative (OUI) partners with local and national organizations to convert basketball courts and blacktops into multi-sport play spaces, activating previously under-utilized public courts. OUI believes accessibility to sports is the most impactful way we can address the health crisis kids in the United States are facing. OUI was founded by Kyle Martino following his run for US Soccer President. As he traveled the country listening to local communities, he became acutely aware of the steady drop in participation his sport was experiencing, and the national health crisis borne of that phenomenon. Further research and understanding helped to reveal this issue of consequence as not just soccer-specific, but a youth sports epidemic. The benefits of a childhood filled with multiple sports should be a right of all and not a privilege of a few.
