Located in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Hospital María Especialidades Pediátricas, is a public, referral hospital for specialized pediatric care, created for the children, guaranteeing pleasant and secure environments, where they can feel like at home. It was built by Fundación María and donated to the Honduran Government in 2002, given certain conditions be fulfilled. One of them is that it should operate under a different administrative model from the rest of public hospitals, and should have a non-governmental Surveillance Committee that will protect the quality in the administration by the Directors and Hospital Staff. Given the above, and in order to fulfill this requirement, Fundación Amigos del Hospital María was constituted in November 2004.
