Founded in 2001, the Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of Central and Eastern European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. Our activities include: Ex Oriente Film – a training programme for Central and East European filmmakers and creative documentaries; East Doc Platform – the largest co-production, funding and distribution platform tailor-made for Central and East European documentaries; East Silver – a market for Central and East European documentaries, providing festival services and awarding the best documentaries; KineDok – alternative distribution of creative documentaries. We provide a wide range of information at our portal dokweb.net and on our social networks. We closely work with key international festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, and training initiatives and serve as the gateway to Eastern European documentary film.
