I am a photographer who works closely with action sports and more specifically skiing and snowboarding. Light and timing are both key elements in any photograph and that is why I explore these variables in my work. I am interested in movement, light and time and how they are all related and work together to really express the freedom that action sports gives you when you are participating, and even from an audience perspective. I want the audience to feel what the skier or snowboarder feels when they ride just by looking at my photography. Snowboarder Travis Rice said; “I wouldn’t even call snowboarding a sport. For me it’s just a way of life. It’s a chance to finally shut your brain off, and live within the moment. And, for as long as I am able, I will ride until the day I die.” This quote sums up my photography and the way that I think about everything. Living in the moment might be a slight cliché but actually being able to capture that unique moment with my camera is what motivates me to continue taking photographs.
