The founders of The Baskids Foundation hope to help curve the achievement gap for low-income youth in our community by providing reading materials for the home to promote literacy and positive social engagement. We collect donations from our community and create packages specially crafted for children in k-3rd grade, and donate them to shelters, hospitals, and underfunded educational programs in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Providing books to our young readers to create their very own at-home libraries increases literacy levels. We believe that leadership starts with knowledge, and the best way to gain knowledge is to READ. We invest in our community so that we can grow a generation of readers.
