Tait House Community Enterprise (formerly known as Southill Development Co-op) is a community development co-operative whose mission is to generate enterprise, employment and training opportunities including the provision of services for the people of Limerick. Established in 1985, Tait House Community Enterprise is implementing a new strategic plan for 2014 and the centerpiece is to support social and economic regeneration by accelerating the development of new businesses and services by establishing a Community Enterprise Centre with incubation space for start - ups. Currently with over 100 plus staff, numerous volunteers and local residents supporting and motivating the growth of the organisation, free community services have been expanded to offer support and improve the well being of the surrounding communities of Limerick including providing information on rights and entitlement from the in house Community Action Centre, assisting those seeking a pathway to employment through Local Employment Services, offering free legal advice at the Law and Mediation Clinic, community courses and training from the Adult Education Centre and a Community Officer who provides support to residents on one to one basis. Tait House also offers invaluable environmental community resources such as free insulation assessments for the Better Energy Scheme and free home insulation upgrades to qualifying clients through the Better Energy Warmer Homes Scheme. Tait House is also participating in the SEAI Area Based Project in conjunction with Limerick City & County Councils and are deep retrofitting homes with new windows and doors, heating upgrades, wall and attic insulation and supply of CFL Bulbs. Other enterprises available to the public include office and payroll services, Estate Management repair and maintenance services and a Community Crèche and Afterschool Club.
