FLOPONOR was founded in 1996 in Rio de Mel, Trancoso, by Secundi¬no do Nascimento and Altino Rua. Both had worked in forestry for over a decade and were thinking about starting a company in the Portuguese forestry sector, which would improve and so protect the forest. In 1998, FLOPONOR expanded to the waste management business, by setting up RESUR. The aim was address the company’s environmental concerns and to provide a service of excellence to the community. In 2001, FLOPONOR moved into the building industry with ASCOP, thus broadening its business interests with a new project that complemented its existing areas of work. The synergies between the three areas of business meant fast and sustainable growth was also possible in this sector. Presently, FLOPONOR is a diversified group, with a solid market position in three areas of business – Forestry, the Environment and Building – we a vision to grow continuously in each of these areas, and we are always ready to embrace new opportunities which are economically and socially sustainable.
