Defence Bank Foundation
www.defencebankfoundation.com.auThe Defence Bank Foundation provides help to members of the Australian Defence Force during their time of greatest need. We do this predominantly by providing grants and funding to Australian based projects which help current and ex-service men and women and their families who have suffered life changing wounds or injuries whilst serving their country so that they can rebuild their lives with the support and dignity they deserve and empower them to go on and achieve even greater things. Our overriding objective is to give money where it will make a real impact and achieve a meaningful result for individuals and the Defence Community. The Defence Bank Foundation's chosen primary beneficiary is the Defence Community Dogs. We chose it because it is a highly effective project benefiting both Defence members and their families. Defence Community Dogs rescues abandoned dogs and extensively trains them to become Service Dogs to support serving and ex-serving ADF personnel suffering from injuries and illnesses (including PTSD). The dogs are trained by the inmates at the Bathurst Correctional Centre under the guidance of professional dog trainers. Once fully trained, the dogs are given to veterans in need. This program rescues Dogs, rehabilitates inmates and saves veterans.
