Bristol Green Doors is a weekend event of open homes showcasing how a range of no-cost to high-cost measures can reduce domestic energy consumption and promote low-carbon living. Over 11th and 12th September a broad range of homes will be showcased in different neighbourhoods across the whole city. The UK government has a target of reducing CO2 emissions by 80% from 1990 levels by 2050. 27% of these currently come from our homes. Bristol Green Doors will encourage the uptake of energy efficiency measures in the home as integral to home refurbishment as visitors will be able to see and discuss the refurbishments and renewable installations with the householders and learn from their experiences. Bristol Green Doors can contribute significantly towards Bristol becoming a more sustainable city. Best of all, the project is replicable, so once delivered, it can be shared with other UK cities.
