The mission of the Essex County Family Justice Center is to enhance the safety and autonomy of domestic violence victims and their children by providing accessible and coordinated services in one location. The Family Justice Center (FJC) reduces barriers faced by victims of domestic violence, such as having to go to multiple sites to secure needed services, by co-locating coordinated wrap-around services into one facility. Multiple services are now available at the FJC, including but not limited to, comprehensive assessments to determine needed services, civil legal and criminal justice assistance, risk assessment and safety planning, explanation of and referrals to residential shelters and housing assistance, financial planning, counseling, and assisting with parenting concerns.
