20 South Street is a creative home for collaboration between artists, run by director Julia Stubbs. The company was founded in 2010 and in its inaugural year produced the UK Premiere of DESIRE, the landmark play by the award-winning Catalan playwright Josep Maria Benet i Jornet, translated by Sharon G. Feldman which Julia produced and directed at the White Bear Theatre in London. Since then, as Julia has a special interest in new writing, she has continued to collaborate with writers to develop their work as part of scratch nights, rehearsed readings, and workshops. In 2019, Julia worked with writer/performer Anne Bertreau as the director of her solo play A VOICE which toured to the Brighton Fringe Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe that year. During the 2020 lockdowns, Julia started to direct short films and in spring of 2022, produced and directed the original short film TO WOMB IT MAY CONCERN by Georgia Lovell which will be released later this year. Julia is currently collaborating with writer/performer Mark Glentworth on his solo musical SEVEN and a HALF YEARS which following its London run in June 2022 will tour to the first Chelmsford Fringe Festival as well as the 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
