One epic backpacking trip in nature has the potential to create a revolution. And that is exactly how this story begins... Living a conscious lifestyle has always been at the core of how we chose to live our lives. For all three BuyChoice founders, it started with our food choices, choosing a plant-based lifestyle to cause the least harm to the planet, animals and people. This choice was the start of a never-ending pursuit towards living in a way that envisioned us as being just one piece of a larger puzzle. As a part of a larger ecosystem of living beings, all working together for a thriving planet. One day several years ago, we (Marina and Tomer) talked with a friend of ours about clothes. We realized that almost every piece of clothing we owned was made in a way that caused harm to the planet, the animals, and the humans that made it. Then the conversation shifted to furniture, appliances, personal care items - and basically, every item we owned. After this conversation, we realized that making ethical choices in our chaotic world is tough, and it involves hours of laborious research. It’s not easy to find products that fit multiple ethical preferences, like organic cotton, vegan and fair trade certified t-shirts, for example. We decided to transform our own consumption patterns, and to create a platform that would make it easy for everyone to do the same. We decided to help you turn your money into conscious choices, and to be part of causing the most good possible. And that is how BuyChoice was born. Then, Marina and Tomer went on a 5-day backpacking trip in the Sierras with their good friend and systems genius, Terry, and it was clear she is the perfect partner for BuyChoice (I mean, when you get along for 5 days straight and have the best time ever while climbing at least 3,000 feet of elevation every single day, you know you’re meant to work together!). And that is how BuyChoice became the badass powerhouse it is today.
