Give a Child a Family Africa head office is in Margate, South Africa, and helps hundreds of abused, abandoned, neglected babies and children each year. GCF provides 24/7 care to over 120 children a year at their residential Place of Safety, plus many more in the rural community. Many of the children that are placed here are suffering from malnutrition, have been abused sexually, physically and emotionally, and are in poor health on arrival, including the devastating effects of HIV and TB, which are extremely high in the district due to extreme poverty and lack of available service delivery. These babies and children arrive at the Centre with nothing, only the clothes on their backs, no bags, no toys, no toiletries... just their fear and loneliness of being removed from the only home they knew.... even though it was a home that hurt them and neglected them. Give a Child a Family Africa provides Therapy and Counselling for these children to cope with and heal from their traumatic experiences. GCF provides education and early childhood development for these children, so they can learn to protect themselves through knowledge. GCF provides nutrition and healthy eating plans for these children, so their bones grow strong and their underdeveloped bodies regain shape and health. GCF provides the much-needed healthcare for these children, including ARVs, immunization and hygiene. But best of all Give a Child a Family Africa gives them love and security, until we find them a new and loving family to place them into....because every child should be in a safe and secure family... and our kinship, foster and adoptive parents are all trained, assessed and supported to ensure these children have a successful placement.
