Peterlee Town Council is a local council serving the people of Peterlee, in east Durham. The Council consists of 22 elected Members and has a staff team of around 50, plus casual staff, coaches and volunteers. In summer 2018 we are also taking on 4 new apprentices in horticulture and business administration. The Council manages over 400 acres of public space in the town, as well as a number of venues such as the beautiful Shotton Hall conference & banqueting centre and the Pavilion sports & community centre. We organise and run a number of large town events every year including the Peterlee Show, Fireworks night celebrations, Remembrance Parade, Armed Forces Day, Christmas Tree lighting event, and others. We manage the Town's main park - Woodhouse Park - as well as a number of other parks and play areas, We also provide high quality sports venues and pitches, hosting Peterlee Cricket Club, Horden & Peterlee Rugby Club, a number of saturday and sunday league football teams, and a bowls club. The Council also supports a range of social projects in the town including funding 'The Project' youth engagement project in the town centre, funding the local Citizen Advice Bureau' provision of advice and support services, and providing cash grants to a wide number of local charities and community groups. We work in close partnership with a number of other public sector organisations operating in the area including the neighbourhood Police team, Fire & Rescue Service, Durham County Council, East Durham College, and the Easington & The Dales Clinical Commissioning Group.
